Dear Mr. Bush,
With the last chapter of the American Story now officially closed, I wanted to say thank you for your hard work for the last eight years. You came in to office to be met by the biggest attack on our country since World War II. You successfully worked to make that a one time event. I firmly believe had someone else been in the Oval Office, 911 would have been just the beginning. Your expert leadership protected this country, and people seem to have forgotten that.
I believe that history will see you better than the unfair criticism that you have been receiving lately. The economy has been trashed by greed, excess, and impatience, not by mistakes in Washington. Instead of looking inward, people are looking for a scapegoat. Even at this low point, we are still more prosperous, more powerful, and more envied, than any other nation on earth. There are still millions of people the world over still benefiting from American prosperity, leadership, and generosity.
We can continue to be that great nation, if we remember who we are: One Nation Under God, founded on hard work, not handouts, with respect for each other and God.
Again Mr. Bush, thank you, and God bless you!
